Plot
It is a continuation of the story of DJ Tillu, the haphazard life of Tillu, a local DJ with great dreams and even greater troubles. Tillu is still troubled by the previous relationships and gets caught up in another whirl wind romance with Lilly (Anupama Parameswaran), an enigmatic and good looking woman. Tillu is just beginning to think that he has loved again when he is pulled into another criminal conspiracy. In a series of misunderstanding, lies and comic anarchy, the story keeps the audiences glued to the end. The story combines crime and comedy without any problems, making the flow quick and refreshing.
The second part enriches the story, providing the character of Tillu with additional emotional tints without losing the humor. His name is clean, and his wit and charm have to be employed to find out who is framing him, when the stakes are high. This is then followed by a series of twists and turns of betrayal, laugh-out-loud scenes and even more unexpected turns. The screenplay leaves the audience guessing as it is a mixture of suspense and laughter. Each scene contributes to the unpredictable adventure of Tillu, how everything seems to be in a chaotic way trailing him.
Performance
It is Siddhu Jonnalagadda who bears the whole burden of the movie and once again demonstrates his ability to master comedic timing and improvisation. His depiction of Tillu is free, organic and incredibly humorous, which makes him one of the most popular characters in Telugu cinema. His speech manner, his funny phrases and gestures make the viewer constantly amused. Siddhu is an endearing yet innocent character who makes Tillu a flawed but lovable hero. This follow up film makes him one of the most diverse and imaginative actors in the business.
As Lilly, Anupama Parameswaran gives one of her most confident performances. She is as energetic as Siddhu and her character is an enigma and a prankster at the same time. Her attraction to Tillu is electric and this provides a sense of sensuality as well as emotional tension to the story. The presence of other supporting actors such as Prince Cecil and Muralidhar Goud provide great comic relief, which is very entertaining. The ensemble is a flawless combination of youthful vitality and timing that adds a vibrant feel to the movie throughout.
Direction and Screenplay
Director Mallik Ram replaces Vimal Krishna and injects new life and graphics in Tilly Square. He wisely expands the fame of DJ Tillu by ensuring that the follow-up was more refined, bold and even more humorous. The screenplay, which was co-written by Siddhu Jonnalagadda himself, does not lose the gist of the chaotic world of Tillu, but introduces some additional depth and style. Each scene is highly cut, visually stimulated and rhythmically developed. The director maintains the pace briskly, so that there is not even a single dull and tiresome moment.
It is particularly the writing of dialogue which is worthy of praise– modern, witty, and without any fear of telling the truth. All communication between Tillu and Lilly is full of life and humor. Fame, love, and trust are also brought about in the screenplay in a less conspicuous way, which provides the comedy with a bit more heart. The story has its moments of sincerity and exposure even in the midst of the commotion. Mallik Ram is able to achieve a sequel that does not disrespect the original but one that stands tall on its own.
Music
Music is essential in the Tilly Square and it adds to the ambiance as well as the wildness of Tillu. The soundtrack is composed by composers Ram Miriyala and Achu Rajamani who make the film soundtrack very lively and befitting the party atmosphere and emotional tunes. The instant hits such as Radhika and Ticket Eh Konakunda took the social media by fire. Each song incorporates electronic rhythms with Telugu folk rhythms which reflect the erratic way of life of Tillu. The music also keeps the story alive and even the tense moments are playful and rhythmic.
The background music enhances all the twists, making the comedy and suspense run smoothly. Thumping basslines accentuate the club scenes, and the romantic scenes flow on the tunes of the melodic background. The influence of Anirudh’s music is apparent in the youthful vitality of the music. The songs are not merely there to entertain, they move the plot further and mirror the emotional roller coaster of Tillu. It is one of those soundtracks that are equally good to hear outside the theater as much as when one is listening in the theater.
Theme
The conflict between love, ambition and self-image in a world where people are obsessed with glamour is at the core of Tilly Square. It explores the clash of confidence and weaknesses in one man when he is tempted and in trouble. The story of Tillu is the reality of contemporary relationships that are thrilling and unpredictable, entertaining and hurting. The movie employs humor to bring out the insecurities that motivate the decisions of the youth. At the back of each laugh is a subliminal reality that love and ego are bound to get out of control.
Individuality and self-acceptance is also a part of the movie. Tillu, with all his follies, remains loyal to his eccentric character. The theme implies that imperfection may be lovable in combination with sincerity and self-knowledge. Tillu Square also challenges the social norms of masculinity and success rather subtly through humor. It is not just a laugh riot, but it is a commentary on the way we seek happiness in a world that never ceases to judge.
Cinematography and Technical Excellence.
The film has a fantastic energy in the neon lights that is captured by the cinematographer Sai Prakash Ummadisingu. All frames are vibrant, fashionable, and dynamic, which represents the confusion and the beauty of the personality of Tillu. The modern appeal of the movie is improved by the use of vibrant lighting, hand-held camera work and the use of creative angles. The club scenes, street chases and romantic scenes are all captured in a flair and precision. The aesthetic is very dynamic but not cluttered, which gives Tilly Square a slick urban image.
Naveen Nooli, the editor, maintains the pacing, so that the movie does not lose its momentum. The design of production is exceptional as each location, whether it is a club or an apartment, is vibrant and modern. The design of the costumes by Neeraja Kona is a perfect way to make the film look good, and it provides the characters with the style and authenticity. Technically, Tillu square is a keen and well-crafted entertainer that never appears or feels indolent. It is a film that admires polish over humor, and the end result is an intelligent and stunning movie.
