Thor starts off as the arrogant and egocentric prince of Asgard, who is set to inherit the throne, but is delusional. The first act of his spontaneous assault on the Frost Giants causes a series of disastrous incidents compelling Odin to divest himself of his abilities and send him to the planet Earth. Without his power and having no knowledge about the world of people, Thor experiences cruel results of his deeds as he gradually learns humility in the face of real life.
On planet earth, he meets astrophysicist Jane Foster, whose interest and kindness create a bond that transforms the way Thor looks at mankind. In the meantime, Loki plots to take the throne of Asgard and he does expose secrets about his origin. He gets to face the increasingly dangerous Loki as Thor gets to know about responsibility and compassion. The last fight is what compels him to either sacrifice his pride or his life and demonstrate that he is not only worthy of his hammer, but also of heroism.

It provides a memorable soundtrack that increases the emotional impact of the movie and makes Thor a stronger member of the MCU.
Themes
Thor is fundamentally a tale of maturity and modesty. The movie explores the theme of the destruction that comes with power and the lack of wisdom, and the power of kindness and belonging. The exile of Thor teaches us that being a hero requires leading through sacrifice, understanding and bravery and not through arrogance and birthright. The way he turns into a worthy hero makes his change an engaging experience that is relevant to the viewers of all ages.
Identity, family, and betrayal are other motifs of the story, especially by the emotional trajectory of Loki. His fight to belong, be accepted, and to be jealous is a tragic contrast to the course of Thor. Other themes such as destiny, honor, and redemption also add more to the film besides being a superhero origin. It turns into a universal tale of the discovery of who we are, who we have to become, and what it is actually like to be worthy.
